About us firmeninfo.at is a portal for companies that provides business information about Austrian companies online. It is a service of the Compass Group.

Established as a directory publisher around 150 years ago Compass's success story started by providing business and financial information to Austrian enterprises. As early as at the beginning of the 1980s we launched online databases alongside the printed version. With the arrival of the internet in the mid-1990s the number of online users exceeded the number of print users. The printed media was totally abandoned in 2003 and we have continuously worked on the expansion and optimisation of our online services since then. Over time the product range has expanded greatly: in addition to business information we offer marketing addresses, domain services and online portals, for example on European economic history. The basis has, however, always been the same: Compass stands for quality and transparency.

Foundation of Compass-Verlag by Gustav von Leonhardt (Secretary General of the Austro-Hungarian Bank)

1910 - The Rudolf Hanel era
The brand name "Compass" is registered for Rudolf Hanel, whose family owned and managed the publishing company until 1977.

Recognition of the Compass volumes as authentic court documents.

1977 - The Futter family
Takeover of the publishing house by Werner Futter, owned by the Hanel family

Introduction of videotex system and expansion of the first Austrian trade register database.

Austria's first commercial internet database, out of which today's most important product, the Wirtschafts-Compass, was developed, goes online.
